Another day, another set of stuff on the grill. This time once again highlighted a few nice pieces of Steelhead from Central Market ... and a lime ... and some variety of veg. Badger doesn't much like getting wet (he's not a grey-skies and rain-lover like Mushroom is), so in the winter we don't grill quite as much, but in the spring, summer, and fall, it's probably every other meal we eat at home.

We both ended up with too much computer-related work to do today, so we didn't really get a chance to have any fun. We went out this morning for our traditional Sunday morning brunch at Agate Pass Cafe, which was delicious as always; thanks guys! But then—boring us—we had to return to the Airstream to work ... how dull.
When it was coming up on suppertime, I realized that we would need to eat again but that neither of us had the time or energy to get up and go out. I poked around and discovered that the unit of rapini I had bought last week was still perfectly fine (thank the gods for hearty greenery), and I had all the requirements for a nice beans-and-greens style soup. So that's what I made, and what we ate with a few slices of buttered toast between projects.

This afternoon I got a wicked bad craving for both broccoli and peanut butter ... maybe an odd combination, but an idea hit me for how to combine the two and off I went to the store to secure some provisions. My idea was this: make up a batch of my dad's spicy peanut sauce (it's what he uses to make his internationally-famous spicy-peanut-noodle or dandan mein) and use it as an excuse to eat some broccoli and noodles for supper.
1. Peanut butter (chunky or smooth, it doesn't matter)
2. Soy sauce or tamari (dad uses a very dark mushroom soy that is excellent but
anything will do)
3. Sriracha (yes, you can use any other spicy item of your choosing)
(4.) Hot water—you might as well just put on the water for the noodles now anyway
Tonight we grilled up one of our favorites—steelhead (often called salmon but it is actually trout)—and also tried a new experiment grilling broccoli. Both were delicious!

First, if you live anywhere near Central Market in Poulsbo or Town & Country (called simply T&C by locals) on Bainbridge Island, you should consider yourself very lucky. These two grocery stores (two of the five in the local Washington chain) are excellent, catering to those of us who love fresh, local ingredients as well as the odd and necessary condiments. [We will write a proper review of these stores in a later post, but quickly: if you are a cheesesteak person, do not miss the one at Central Market, nor the ham and brie panini at T&C—a perfect lunch for the ferry on the way to the city.]
